The ancient architecture merges with the cosmopolitan present day and the Seville Cathedral – the largest gothic cathedral in the world, churches, parks and monuments provides a fascinating insight into her history.
One hour’s drive north from Hacienda Dos Olivos takes you into the imposing mountains of the Sierra, thickly covered with cork oak and sweet chestnut trees which offer grazing to the famous Black pigs that produce serrano ham.
South is Coto de Doñana, the National Park, spread over an area of some 77,000 hectares from the estuary of the Guadalquivir River. Preserving ancient landscape and rare wild life; its vast areas of large sand dunes, pine forest and marshlands feeds horses, deer, the famous Iberian lynx and spectacular birdlife which migrates to this region.
Jerez, a small city surrounded by vines planted in chalky white soil, is the home of Spanish sherry (a word derived from the Moorish Xerez) and brandy. Famous sherry and wine Houses offer tempting sessions to taste their cellars. The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art has its open days when the riding displays are performed of classical riding, carriage driving and traditional Doma Vaquera.
To the West soft rolling acres; fields of poppies, sunflowers, orange, almond and olive groves. The beautiful quiet beaches of the Costa de la Luz are blessed with soft golden sand, lapped by a gentle azure sea, backed by hills of fragrant pine forests.Andalusia celebrates its life; this area is the home of horses and bulls; the famed white villages with their labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, colourful local events, bustling markets, small friendly bars and shops.
The area surrounding Hacienda Dos Olivos is studded with numerous small Spanish towns and villages, each with its own distinct flavour and origins. Our two nearest towns, Pilas the main producer for Manzanilla olives and Aznalcazar renowned for its vast pine forests which are the entrance to the Doñana National Park.
